In the Studio Lately: Two Large Paintings
There’s been interest in my larger works lately, and I’ve been keen to try scaling up more than I have been, so last weekend I busted out two big panels and started throwing the paint around.
I love how the palette tends to self adjust sometimes; still very much ‘me’, but slightly shifted. I think sometimes it’s seasonal, and sometimes just a natural shift, and sometimes it’s even intentional. 😉
The painting below right revealed an unexpected portrait part way through.
I love to watch the paint do what it wants during these early stages. Turns out watching paint dry can actually be pretty interesting!
It was a peaceful afternoon, and I enjoyed a cup of tea in the garden while contemplating the paintings after. They’re not finished yet, but need to sit a while to ‘cook’.
