Escape to the coast {even when you can't leave the house} with these 3 contemporary coastal seascape paintings
So many people I speak to are coast and ocean lovers like me, but for whatever reason - living miles from the beach, health issues, work commitments, global pandemic - they just can’t get there in person as much as they’d like.
This is one area {of many!} where art can be such a gift.
I often think of my paintings as windows, although not in the way that realistic art or photography might fit that description - as if you were literally looking through a window onto a landscape.
My work leans more towards the abstract, so these windows open inward, rather than outward.
They come from deep immersion in the coastal landscape - specifically in Cornwall where I live - and can bring your own cherished memories and experiences of coastal adventures alive, right here and now, wherever you are.
I make paintings about swimming underwater, about rock pools, and about the way that birds in flight, light, plant life, and movement can all generate sensory memories of being by, in, and on the sea.
I’ve selected three of my paintings that I think particularly bring that sea breezy, salty air, feeling of freedom into your home.
